Privacy Policy

The short version: this website doesn’t track you and doesn’t ask you to create an account. The only personal information we hold is what you choose to send us — an email or download form — and this page explains what we do with it.

The short version

You can read every page of this site without giving us any personal information. There are no accounts to create, no login, no comments, and nothing to upload. The site sets no tracking cookies (see our Cookie Policy).

The only time we hold personal information about you is when you choose to send it to us: when you email us, or when you fill in the form. We use it to reply to you or to understand who’s interested in our work — nothing else — and you have the right to see it, correct it or ask us to delete it.

Who we are

This site is run by RMR Ltd (RM Research). We are the “data controller” for the personal information described here, which means we decide how and why it is used and we are responsible for looking after it.

If you have any question about your personal information, or want to make any of the requests set out below, email us at info@rmresearch.uk.

The personal information we hold, and why

We only hold what you give us directly. There are two ways that happens.

When you email us. If you email us — through a link on the site or directly — we hold your email address and whatever you put in your message, for as long as we need it to deal with what you got in touch about. We use it to reply to you and to keep a record of our correspondence. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.

When you fill in the Primer download form. To download our Primer we ask for your name, your organisation, and a short note on your interest in the document. We use this only to understand who is interested in the Primer and how it’s being used — not to contact you afterwards, and not for marketing. Those details reach us by email and are not stored on this website. Our lawful basis is again our legitimate interest in understanding interest in our published work.

We don’t collect anything else, we don’t build a profile of you, and we don’t sell or share your information with anyone for their own purposes.

Cookies

We set no tracking cookies. Our Cookie Policy explains this in full, including the one case where a cookie can be set — a YouTube video you choose to play.

Content from other websites

Some pages include a video from YouTube. We embed these so that nothing loads from YouTube until you press play, and we use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced service to reduce tracking. If you do play a video, YouTube may set cookies and collect data under Google’s terms, not ours. Our Cookie Policy covers this.

How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it. Email correspondence is kept while we’re dealing with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards, then deleted. Primer form details are kept only for as long as we need them to understand interest in the document. We review what we hold and remove anything we no longer need.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • have it corrected if it’s wrong or incomplete;
  • have it deleted, where we no longer have a good reason to keep it;
  • object to our using it, where we’re relying on our legitimate interests;
  • ask us to restrict how we use it while a query is sorted out.

To exercise any of these, email info@rmresearch.uk. We’ll respond within one month. There’s no charge, and we’ll only ask for enough information to be sure it’s really you.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your personal information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
