New Chronicles of Mudfog (House of Stars)

The project reimagined Chatham’s rich heritage through the eyes of young people, drawing connections between the town’s industrial past and contemporary experiences of identity, migration and belonging.

The Queens of the Medway

This project was to create new displays to tell the stories of the Queen of Thanet and Queen of Kent, two excursion ships active on the River Medway between the wars and into the late 1940s.

An article on the Queens of Medway appeared in Paddle Wheels (Spring 2025), the magazine of the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society.

Sikism – Past, Present & Future (Medway Towns Gurdwara Sabha)

Focussing on Punjabi culture and Sikh heritage, the project reinvigorates cultural practices and connects the local Sikh community to its past, present and future.

A project report, Sikism – Past, Present & Future (PDF, 4.1MB) was prepared by Paula Chakkar and Gurjit Chaggar.

Young People and Traditional Heritage Crafts (Herbert Baker Society)

The project aimed to engage young people in Medway with traditional heritage craft skills to expand educational and employment opportunities. The Society’s website has a description of the project.

Appendix D: Audit Report (to be released)

The Audit Report was produced by RMR and commissioned by Medway Council as part of the Medway Heritage Place programme.

It uses a mix of desk research, interviews with heritage holders and stakeholders, and surveys to explore the current state of Medway’s heritage sector.

Appendix E: Open Space Consultation Report (to be released)

Write up of the Open Space Consultation that took place at Rochester Corn Exchange on Saturday 13th July 2024.

This was led by James Gough (GJG Consultancy) and Dr Ruth Melville (RMR), and was attended by 103 people from 60 organisations.
